Series adaptation of novels by James Patterson about the complex and brilliant detective Alex Cross

Hodge is the third actor to portray Cross, following in the footsteps of Morgan Freeman, who first portrayed him on screen in 1997; in Kiss the Girls and again in the 2001 film's sequel, Along Came a Spider; and Tyler Perry as the title character in 2012's "Alex Cross," which blew up the box office and caused Lionsgate to cancel the previously planned sequel, "Double Cross." James Patterson's novels have been some of my favorites, and to me, Aldis Hodge is the perfect Alex Cross. He always liked his role in Leverage, but this role shows a different range of his acting abilities.

Their interaction on his birthday was gold

I can't go on without mentioning that Ryan Eggold plays a perfectly evil villain. The plot unfolds, revealing surprises and unexpected relationships.

My kind of slow burn

I agree with another commenter that the editing should have brightened the scenes. Too dark and obstructs the view.

Hopefully they plan to make this a regular series

The character development is strong and it's easy to get involved with the friendships and family dynamics.
