A singular profile of British pop superstar Robbie Williams The film emerged from multiple interview recordings that filmmaker Michael Gracey made with Robbie Williams over the course of a year and a half at Williams' recording studio in Los Angeles, USA. Although the interviews were not originally for a film, as Gracey "just wanted to capture [Williams] in his own voice telling his story," the majority of Williams' voiceover in the film comes from those recordings.

The visual creativity shines with the intense drug-induced sequences that have a hint of the fantastical element while unapologetically exploring Williams' mental health

While there are familiar tropes, it dives deeper into the thematic material than you'd expect and has the guts to do what other biopics can't. The biggest controversy surrounding the film was the CGI monkey, but its presence feels so seamlessly integrated that you barely give it a second thought.
